Item Songs have become a MUST- HAVE in the Bollywood movies to enhance
the beauty, sensuality and
appeal of the film. From iconic
Madhuri Dixit in 'Ghagra', Aishwarya
Rai Bachchan in 'Kajra Re' to Katrina
Kaif and Kareena Kapoor in 'Chikni
Chameli' and 'Fevicol Se' respectively, all the actresses have landed platform
of item songs and have won many
hearts.
The upcoming film by Prakash Jha'
'Satyagraha' will also be having an
item song wherein a newbie will
shake a leg and entertain audiences in
a thumri-electronic fusion number
called 'Aiyo ji hamri atariya mein'.
Prakash Jha, who is known for making
subjective and strong movies believes
that these songs are a great
contribution to the story and pace of
the movie.
"Such numbers contribute to
certain moments and sensibilities.
They (dance numbers) help the
story too," Jha said in a statement.
The item girl in 'Satyagraha' is Natasa
who has been part of many
commercials earlier. On getting a
break in 'Gangaajal', she said, "In October 2012, I went (came)
to Mumbai, where I started to do
shows, TV commercials and
billboards. My favourite job was
my advertisement for Johnson's
Baby collection…Now, I hope that the (Satyagraha) song will be a
hit, and my game will come to the
fore,"
The filmmaker had earlier also given
item songs a great heed earlier too. In
'Gangaajal' and 'Raajneeti', item girls
Manyata Dutt and Barkha Bisht
respectively burned the dance floor
and were an added flovor to the movie.
Prakash aso feels that these hot
numbers are a great attraction for the
young audiences who groove to such
tracks.
"They do entertain; and
entertainment happens to be the
most important part of film-
making. At the same time, when
used cleverly, they can also be
meaningful,"
Talking about the song he adds, "It is set in a nightclub and
dramatically establishes Ajay's
rise as a telecommunication czar,
with his wheelings and dealings.
Natasa is from Croatia but is
attuned to Indian dances. She fit the bill and is electric in her
performance."
'Satyagraha' featuring Amitabh
Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay
Devgn and Arjun Rampal in the lead
roles, is scheduled to release on
August 23.

Shah Rukh confirms his surrogate baby's birth, names him AbRam
Bollywood superstar Shah
Rukh Khan has confirmed the birth of his
and his wife Gauri Khan's surrogate baby
boy and has named him 'AbRam'. The
actor has also denied all reports of sex
determination tests on the child.
In a press release on Tuesday, Shah Rukh
said AbRam was having health issues as
he was prematurely born by several
months. "Amidst all the noise that has
been going around, the sweetest is the
one made by our newborn baby, AbRam. He was born prematurely by several
months, but has finally come home," said
Shah Rukh. "Gauri and our whole family
have been dealing with his health issues
for a long time now," he added.
"As a family, our silence on this subject
has been because of the personal nature
of emotional strife that we have been
going through due to his health," Shah
Rukh said. The superstar also put the
record straight that "there was no sex determination for our child".
"The baby was born much before the
speculations of 'sex determination' and
other 'issues' pertaining to the same
were being raised in the media by some
organisations. Suffice to say his coming
home puts to rest completely false and at times insensitive claims of sex
determination and alleged illegalities,"
he added.
On his part, the actor-producer has also
apologised to "all those other doctors
and hospitals who had to face unwanted
scrutiny and questioning by some
parties", and he has thanked the doctor
concerned, Jatin Shah, for his expertise and contribution to make the surrogacy
successful.
"We also wish to thank all the other
doctors, nurses and medical staff who
have made his life possible," added Shah
Rukh, who also said the entire surrogacy
process is bound by "strict
confidentiality". He has appealed to all "to allow us to cherish this private
moment as a family".
Shah Rukh, who began his tryst with
showbiz through the small screen in
1988, married Gauri in 1991. They have
two children together - son Aryan,16, and
daughter Suhana, 13.

Suriya Starrer’s Success: A Preparing Stage For Ajay’s Singham 2′s Blaze? | Box Office Check
Singham has been a rage ever since the Tamil version of the film released.
Named Singam, the film starred Suriya
and Anushka Shetty which escalated
itself to great success in terms of box
office collections. Making around 70
crores, with almost 6.5 crores from Chennai circuit only, it inspired director
Rohit Shetty to make a Bollywood version
of the film. The Hindi film starring Ajay
Devgn in lead role went on to make 100 crores, thus joining the
distinguished 100 crores club of the domestic box office.
Now as Tamil film Singam 2 is fast
smashing records with an opening day
collections of 8.15 crores from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala circuits, its
first three day collections reached a
cumulative of 26 crores as per estimates. The film is an action
thriller and it will be
interesting to notes how close will Rohit
Shetty go in replicate the look as well as
box office success of Singham 2.
Rohit has been busy with Shah Rukh Khan
and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express and will soon after start
work on Singham 2 that might go on floors by
December this year. But in terms of story,
a lot of changes will occur in Singham 2.
The lead actor Bajirao Singham will
continue from the first edition and
undeniably Ajay Devgn will do a first rate job at it. The sequel needs
to retain the
magic of the original and Singam 2, the
Tamil flick that will lay down the
blueprint of Rohit Shetty's much hyped
sequel of Singham.
Box office wise Singam 2 is already
gearing up to cross the box office records
of Thuppakki which went on to make 100
crores and with Singam 2 performing
phenomenally at the Overseas Market
too, it won't be impossible to achieve.
Rohit Shetty's Singham 2 will hence have
high benchmarks to achieve not only a
competition from his own 2011 film
Singham but also now a Tamil film which
will be loaded in terms of sleek action.
Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty's pairing has always paid off the duo in abundance
and with Singham 2 they will attempt to
enhance the same.
The excitement levels are still modest
since the film is yet to go on floors. A lot
of things are waiting to be unraveled.
From whether Ajay can make Singam
style dance a rage given his limited
expertise at dance or who will play the lead lady, the excitement levels for
Singham 2 is already building each day as
the success of the Tamil flick is soaring.
Given Rohit Shetty's style of work, one
can't expect minimalism from him.
Known to deliver magnanimity, Singam 2
is just a cue for how huge Singham 2 will
be…with Rohit Shetty ishtyle!

Lootera Crashes On Monday: Earns 2 Crores At The Box Office
Given the steady growth in its collections
over the weekend, the trade expected
Lootera to go the Raanjhanaa way and
maintain a healthy tempo on weekdays
too.
But contrary to these projections, the
Ranveer Singh-Sonakshi Sinha love story
has crashed on its crucial first Monday.
According to sources Lootera dropped by
nearly 50 per-cent across territories.
Now such a drop is quite normal for
movies like Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Jab
Tak Hai Jaan and Yeh Jawaani Hai
Dewwani due to their massive initials.
However in the case of Lootera, the film
started on a very low base, and so the
weekdays become extremely crucial for
such a film to make any sort of a mark at
the box office.
After an impressive Rs 6 Cr on Sunday,
Lootera collected a disappointing Rs 2 Cr
plus on Monday.
As things stand the film is headed for an
average rating at the box office, mainly
aided by premium multiplexes, where it
enjoys a good screen count. But unless the
film sees a pick up later in the week, a
HIT tag looks almost impossible.
The film will also face stiff competition
next week from Farhan Akhtar's Bhaag
Milkha Bhaag, which caters to the same
class of audience.

Voluptuous Sonakshi in higher demand than B-Town skinny minnies!
Sonakshi Sinha is getting great reviews
for her sterling performance as Pakhi in
Vikramaditya Motwane's "Lootera"!
Everyone is talking about how she cruises
her character curve in the film from a
chirpy, mildly-manipulative, madly-in-
love girl to a devastated woman counting
her last breaths, with restrained charm
and breathtaking conviction.
Warned against doing period film
But there were many who had dissuaded
her from trying her hand at a period film
so early in her career.
Given the accolades she has received for
Lootera, the lady who made her debut in
Salman Khan starrer Dabangg, and went on to act in masala movies "Rowdy
Rathore", "Dabangg 2" and "Son Of
Sardaar" has proved to all that she is a
fantastic talent and an actress to reckon
with.
Junior Shotgun stated, "After 'Dabangg'
people saw me in a particular kind of
cinema. I heard comments like 'This is
too early in your career', 'You may not be
able to pull it off', 'You need to be
mature for something like this'.
"I was irritated and decided to prove
everyone wrong. I tried doing something
experimental and I am happy that I was
able to carry it off."
Most challenging role
The volatile love story set in the Bengal of
1953 marked with deceit, betrayal,
honour and passion was a clear challenge
for the actress. She plays is a sweet,
mischievous, pampered but devoted
daughter of a zamindar who falls for a visiting archeologist with a questionable
past..The 24-year-old credits Motwane for
honing her skills as an actor bringing out
the best in her. According to her, without
his guidance it would have been
impossible to essay the character of
Pakhi. The lady stated, "It is my most
challenging role till date. Because it is set
in the 1950s, an era I know nothing
about. I have just gone by pure instinct
and Vikram's direction. He is a
tremendous director, I could not have done it without him. I am so glad that
the first opportunity where I got to
showcase my range as an actor was with
Vikram."
B-town's fitness freaks have come down
heavily on Sonakshi for her profound
roundedness time and again. People take
pot shots at her voluptuous figure
labeling her too-mature-looking for her
age. Buzz has it that the young crop of heartthrobs is reluctant to be paired up
with Sona because of her generous
figure. Meanwhile, Sonakshi attitude towards
her detractors is a cool one. She is
indifferent to something as superficial as
body weight. The young actress is
currently in a good place with high-
profile projects in her kitty. After "Lootera", she has three more releases
lined up - "Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai
Dobara", "Bullet Raja" and "Rambo
Rajkumar". She stated, "It is a non-issue to me. I am
very happy doing work and lot of work...
Probably more than the skinny-minnies. I
am going to take a stand in my life by not
talking about it, stop answering
questions so that people stop writing about it."

Why Katrina Kaif canceled her holiday plans with Ranbir Kapoor?
There is no doubt about the fact that
Katrina Kaif is the most loved actress of
Bollywood. And that is the reason why
she is working with all the top actors of
the tinsel town. But because of these
work commitments the diva is unable to spend time with her alleged boyfriend
Ranbir Kapoor.
Katrina Kaif, who was in Macau to attend
the 14th IIFA awards, will soon fly to
Prague for the shooting of her upcoming
film Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan. It
was reported earlier that before going to
Prague, Katrina and Ranbir will spend some time in abroad for holidays.
Talking about Katrina, a source told a
leading daily, "At the moment, she can't
even think of holidays as she has too
much work on her plate. She wanted to
take rest because of her ill health but
even that looks impossible now. She does not want to cancel any shoot schedule
that has been chalked up from before."
Well hats off to Katrina's
professionalism!

Salman Khan: Big hearted 'bhai' turns cyber bully
You can't tell where you'll bump into a
Salman Khan fan. Particularly in Mumbai,
you could encounter a face glazed with
shiny admiration at the mention of 'Bhai'
absolutely anywhere. Khan's enormous
popularity comes from the persona that has come together despite his
career. It's
a little silly to call Khan an actor because
he doesn't act. Neither can one call him a
philanthropist because the NGO he runs,
Being Human, is more of a lifestyle brand
than a not-for-profit outfit. On Twitter, he describes himself as a
humanitarian,
which is definitely the most cheered-for
aspect of Khan's persona.
Outside his modest apartment in Bandra,
you'll always find a crowd of men,
looking up at his balcony and waiting for
a glimpse of him, as though Khan is the
pope or Juliet (or both). From the
manicurist to the millionaire's heir, everyone in Mumbai seems to know Khan
as the man with a big heart. Nothing
stains this reputation; not the rumours of
violence against girlfriends or
connections with the underworld, not
even murder charges. Whatever charges are levelled against Khan, the defence is
the same: for all his faults, he's a good
man. "Dil ka bahut acchha hai Bhai," said
a young man who claims to have done
Khan's manicures till a few years ago.
"You won't find another man in the industry who helps the little guy as much
as Salman," said someone who knows
Khan and worked with him briefly. "He's
popular because of this. This is how he
connects. People sense his intrinsic
goodness."
In recent times, the filmi character that
has made the most impact among
audiences is arguably Khan as Chulbul
Pandey, the fearless cop in the Dabangg
series. It's ironic that Chulbul Pandey
cemented Khan's superstar status because Khan's relationship with the
police force is, to put it mildly, eventful.

Katrina Kaif not joining Ranbir Kapoor in Barcelona
A source close to actress Katrina Kaif
ends the rumours that she will be joining
buddies Ayan Mukherji and Ranbir
Kapoor in Barcelona to bring in her
birthday on July 16.
A close friend of the Dhoom 3
actresslaughs away the rumour as
someone's fantasy holiday.
"Katrina would love to take a holiday. But
she is certainly not rushing off to
Barcelona for her birthday. That's a very
weird thought. We don't know if Ranbir
is joining Ayan in Barcelona. They
certainly don't need Katrina there," laughs the friend.
Apparently, Ranbir's rumoured girlfriend
is trying to take a few days off so she
could visit her mother and sisters in
London for her birthday.
"She likes to go home for Christmas and
her birthday," reveals the friend.

Ranbir Kapoor will make me comfortable: Karan Johar
Last month, Star Report broke the news that
Karan Johar will play the antagonist in
Anurag Kashyap's next, Bombay Velvet
(BV), co-starring Ranbir Kapoor. Now,
KJo's work for the film has finally begun.
"I've got the script. We did a look test too a couple of days ago," he
says. Ask him if he's been talking to Ranbir and he says,
"Not at all, but we'll meet on the sets
eventually. It's going to be a bit awkward
for me to act, so I'm happy that I'm doing
it with Ranbir, who is a friend. I will
immediately be comfortable. The fact that he's in the film will really help."
On his preparations for the role, the
filmmaker says, "Anurag is a spontaneous
director. The ball is in his court; I am his
baby. If I'm good, the credit will go to
him, but if I'm bad, I'll be taking all the discredit. Either way,
it's Anurag's baby all
the way."
It was reported that Karan's role in the
film was offered to Naseeruddin Shah
first, but the filmmaker claims he doesn't
know much about it. "I know Anurag has
spoken (about it), but I have no idea
about any of the details," he says, adding that his involvement in the
film began
with a simple script discussion. "Anurag is
a dear friend. He wanted my feedback, so
I heard the script and gave some inputs
on the screenplay. Then he asked me 'Why
don't you play this part?'. I thought it was interesting, so I agreed
immediately."

Jiah Khan was drunk when she committed suicide: Report
Jiah Khan who committed suicide in her Juhu apartment more than a
month back – had some percentage of alcohol in her blood at the time
she claimed her life, forensic reports have revealed.
According to DNA, the director of Kalina Forensic Laboratory, MK
Malve, said that Jiah Khan's forensic report had been submitted to the
police but denied disclosing details about the same.
Jiah – who worked in 'Nishabd' opposite Amitabh Bachchan, 'Ghajini'
with Aamir Khan and 'Housefull' with Akshay Kumar – committed suicide
on the fateful night of June 3, 2013 by hanging herself in her Juhu
apartment when her mother and sister were away.
Later, her mother discovered a six-page note in her wallet which
revealed that she
was in an unhappy relationship with Sooraj Pancholi, who allegedly
harassed her. However, Sooraj wasn't named in the letter allegedly
penned by her before she committed suicide.
Jiah was reportedly in depression after coming to know of his new love
interest, who supplied jewellery to the Pancholis.
Sooraj – who spent 21 days in jail for allegedly abetting Jiah Khan's
suicide was released on bail last week. He will be seen reprising
Jackie Shroff's role in the remake of Subhash Ghai's 1983 hit movie
'Hero'.

Khan is having second thoughts about
launching Suraj Pancholi, a miffed
Salman has taken a drastic decision of

been in the news for all the wrong
reasons recently after being the prime
accused in Jiah Khan's suicide case. A
leading daily reported that Hero that was
going to go on floors in 2014 will now begin by November 2013.
Hero, which will mark as the launch
vehicle of Suraj as well as Suniel Shetty's
daughter Athiya, has incurred for itself
infamous publicity after the case. Salman
Khan will hold a press meet and clear the
air about the film and let out details officially.

I don't want to be a size zero: Huma Qureshi
Three-film-old Huma Qureshi, who has
managed to garner equal adulation and
flak for her curves in the size-zero-
obsessed industry, prefers to be her
pretty self rather than falling for the fad.
Huma was loved for her voluptuous figure
and earthy style in her first movie Gangs
of Wasseypur. But she was criticised by
some quarters for her weight issues.
"In Gangs of Wasseypur I was the pretty
girl, it was glamorous role. In Ek Thi
Daayan I was the heroine. I have always
been the pretty girl. I think there are
people who have a craze about size zero
but today we do have heroines who are curvier," Huma said in an interview here.
"Either you think of it (weight) as a
problem or as an added advantage. I
would like to be known for my
personality rather than size zero, I am an
actress. I don't want to be a hanger," she
said.
Huma feels there are so many actresses
today who are not size zero but still have
a huge fan following. However, if in the
near future a role demands for her to
transform herself, she is game for it.
The 26-year-old is looking forward to the
release of Nikhil Advani's 'D Day'. In the film, Huma had to perform some
heavy duty stunts and it was not only
challenging but difficult as well for her to
pull it off.
"More than shooting difficult action
sequences, trying to look like a RAW
agent, keeping the character in mind, not
forgetting the lines etc... There is so
much synchronisation that happens when
you do action scenes," she said.
"Besides action, there are cars blowing
up, gunshots, blast happening in the
background and you don't want to mess
it up with (bad) performance... So all that
is scary," she added.
The actress has decided that until and
unless a very good action film comes her
way she will not do one. D Day will see Arjun Rampal playing an
ex-officer of an Indian Armed Forces
unit, Irrfan Khan an undercover RAW official and Huma an explosive expert.
While veteran actor Rishi Kapoor plays a
negative role.
"Rishi Kapoor is my favourite co-star in
the film he is fun to work with. He has
great anecdotes, he is very inspiring. He
is child-like... He is dedicated and
passionate about his work," she said.
"Irrfan is a great performer. As a co-star
its difficult to know what he will do next
as he is full of surprises. Having an actor
like Irrfan in the film is like a blessing,
he takes it (film) to another level. Arjun

They were selected via contests held by the makers recently."

A source close to the production house
reveals, "Ever since the promotions
started, everyone has been asking Farhan
about the practice that went into playing
the role of Milkha Singh. That's why the
makers have decided to give the audiences a chance to watch him run a
marathon and participate with him." The
mini-marathon will comprise a 3-5 km
long run. "Many school and college
students will be running with Farhan.
They were selected via contests held by the makers recently."
A spokesperson from Viacom 18 Motion
Pictures (the co-producers of the movie)
confirmed the news, saying, "The
curiosity to see Farhan running a
marathon is at its highest. He has been
able to transcend boundaries and has become the Milkha Singh of celluloid."
Katrina Kaif to have no releases this year?
Looks like year 2013 is an uneventful
year for Bollywood's beauty Katrina Kaif.
Last year, the actress made waves with
her role as Zoya, a Pakistani ISI agent in
Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger along with ex-
beau Salman Khan. And of course, there was the highlight of 2012, Yash Chopra's
Jab Tak Hain Jaan, in which Katrina
played the ever beautiful Meera opposite
Major Samar, played by Shah Rukh Khan.
However, this year apart from a cameo in
Main Krishna Hoon, and an appearance in
Bombay Talkies as herself, Katrina Kaif
will be missing out on any big releases.
Both her films, Dhoom 3 featuring Aamir
Khan and Bang Bang opposite Hrithik
Roshan have been stalled and pushed to
next year.
Katrina Kaif's ambitious project with
Yash Raj Films, Dhoom 3 has not yet been
able to decide on a release date, owing
to co-star Aamir Khan's obsession with
perfection.
Sources say Aamir Khan wants to shoot
only when he is physically and
emotionally fit to play his role of the
villain, which in turn has affected Kat.
Kartina's second big release, Bang Bang
by Siddharth Anand has also been
postponed, since her love interest
onscreen Hrithik Roshan is recuperating
from a recent brain surgery and doctors
have advised him a month's rest.
We hear with so much free time on her
hands, the actress might take off to
London to spend her upcoming birthday,
which falls on July 16, with her family.

Priyanka to do a cabaret in Gunday
Priyanka Chopra wants to get

roles in films- Andaaz, Fashion, Saat
Khoon Maaf and Barfi was admirable,
her singing flair has reached
international level and even bumped everyone with her item number in
Babli Badmash.
Now the sexy actress, who is playing
the female lead in action-drama-cum-
romance Gunday, is now all set to do a
cabaret number for the same. The
actress will be seen dressed in really

An official from YRF conformed the
news. "Yes, she is doing a cabaret in
Gunday. No additional details are
available right now,"
Buzz says that the song will be
choreographed by Bosco-Ceaser and
workers are creating a grand set for
the cabaret number to be shot.
Director from Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
i.e Ali Abbas Zafar, told "We started shooting for the
particular cabaret song three days
ago in Mumbai and there are
three more days to do. It's a fresh
cabaret song and not a remix of
any old song. It's a very big sort of cabaret song in the film,"
Reported film to be based on lot of
real life events that happened
between 1971 and 1988. And when
Zafar was asked he replied "Actually, I have been doing my
research for quite some time on
Kolkata and I discovered Kolkata
was high on glamour quotient
since 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. In
that way, Kolkata is quite western,"
The director has created a coal mine
and informed that the last 30 days of
shoot is left. "We have created a coal mine set
and we are left to do a huge
action sequence between Irrfan,
Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
Obviously, we can't shoot in real
coal mine so we had to create the set for the period film," added Zafar.

Top 5 Performances of Shahrukh Khan
Shahrukh Khan, also fondly known as
'SRK', 'Baadshah', 'King Khan' or 'King
Of Romance', made his Hindi cinema
debut with Raj Kanwar's 'Deewaana'
in 1991. Before that he was a well
known television actor having worked in famous serials like 'Fauji' and
'Circus'. In the past 22 years, SRK has
given many memorable performances
and has established himself as one of
the most successful and popular actors
in the Indian Film history. Though it is very hard to choose just 5 out of so
many unforgettable roles, here is the
list of the best movie performances of
Shahrukh Khan:
1.) Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge: Starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol,
DDLJ is one of the biggest hits of
Indian Cinema ever and is also known
as the 'Titanic' of Bollywood. SRK lived
the character of Raj to the fullest and
infused an ever lasting life to it. The role essayed by him has become a
benchmark in Bollywood.
2.) Chak De India: Hidden behind a scruffy beard, SRK delivered his most
intense performance ever in this
movie based on Indian Women's
Hockey. Out of all the different
characters that Shahrukh has
portrayed on-screen, Kabir Khan is arguably his most realistic. He is a
man that you could possibly meet in
real life, and Shahrukh's performance
in the film reflects this.
3.) Baazigar: Shahrukh accepted 'Baazigar' at a time when all the
image-conscious stars were staying
away from negative roles and he gave
breathtaking performance in this
musical thriller directed by Abbas-
Mustan. Starring alongside Kajol and Shilpa Shetty, SRK won his first
Filmfare Award For Best Actor for the
movie.
4.) Darr: SRK played the role of an obsessed lover in this Yash Chopra's
psychological thriller. He completely
stole the show in this movie and got
wide acclaim for his villainous act. His
unique way of saying the famous
dialog 'Kkkkkkk....Kirannn' is still fresh in the mind of people. The movie
marked the beginning of his
successful and never ending
association with Yashraj Films.
5.) Swades: Shahrukh Khan, as Mohan Bhargav, delivered arguably the most
sensitive performance of his career in
patriotic saga highlighting the issue of
brain drain. Movie was directed by
Ashutosh Gowariker after the Oscar
nominated Lagaan. Though the movie was not a huge hit commercially at the
time of its release, it went on to
achieve a cult status afterwards.
Apart from these, Shahrukh Khan has
given memorable performances in
'Rabb Ne Bana Di Jodi', 'Kuch Kuch
Hota Hai', 'Devdas', 'Pardes', 'Dil To
Pagal Hai', 'My Name Is Khan', 'Kal Ho
Naa Ho', 'Veer Zaara' and 'Don'.

Warrant against Mallika Sherawat in obscenity case
A Vadodara court
on Monday issued
a bailable warrant
against Bollywood
actress Mallika
Sherawat in connection with
an obscenity case. The Vadodara
district court issued the warrant and asked her to
appear before it on August 19.
Former president of the Baroda Bar
Association, Narendra Tiwari, had filed
a case and sought a non-bailable
warrant against Sherawat over her
"obscene" dance performance at a New
Year eve party held in Mumbai on December 31, 2006.
Tiwari had filed the suit after watching
Sherawat's performance on television
channels. He had made Sherawat and
the management of the five-star hotel,
where the event was held, respondents
in the case.
The court had issued summons to
Sherawat last week to appear before it
on Saturday.
Since Sherawat did not remain present
in the court, Tiwari sought issuance of a
non-bailable warrant against her.
However, after hearing the application,
the court issued a bailable warrant
against her.
The actress had been issued summons in
this case in the past as well. She had
moved Gujarat high court seeking
quashing of the summons. However, her
plea was dismissed and she was asked
to approach the lower court.

Lootera, Policegiri: 1st Weekend Box Office Collections
It was always expected that Lootera would primarily find audience in
premium multiplexes of the country.
Given the glowing pre-release reviews
and insiders testimonials, the film had
seemed to set for an opening around the
50% mark. While footfalls were a tad
lesser than that to begin with, there was good escalation over the weekend owing
to positive word of mouth. This resulted
in the first week collections of around 19 crores which gives a film a
good enough ground to build a respectable total from
here.
While this Vikramaditya Motwane
directed film was never quite slated to
hit the roof, a lot would now depend on
the weekday collections for the film to
see a higher box office billing. More than
just the commercials involved, it is the kind of credibility that everyone
associated with it has managed to build
with Lootera since it is a classy product.
At the end of the day it would be
remembered most for its unique
storytelling with all the moolah turning out to be an add-on.
On the other hand Policegiri didn't really have much going for it. It
was expected
that the film would open on a 50% note
at the single screen theatres in mass
centres. That was not the case to be as
the film took an ordinary start. At
multiplexes, the film didn't really boast of many shows and was just
better than Enemmyand Shortcut Romeo (for which all prospects had been
killed in advance
itself due to poor release). In comparison
though, Policegiri was still much better
spread out due to its single screens
reach. However with the weekend
collections around 8 crores, there is not much going for the film.
One does feel though that if Sanjay Dutt
was around, his presence would have not
just ensured some good promotion but
also release, hence resulting in a better
opening at the least. As things stand
today though, its opening is less than even Zila Ghaziabad which had a
10 crore weekend.

While this Vikramaditya Motwane
directed film was never quite slated to
hit the roof, a lot would now depend on
the weekday collections for the film to
see a higher box office billing. More than
just the commercials involved, it is the kind of credibility that everyone
associated with it has managed to build
with Lootera since it is a classy product.
At the end of the day it would be
remembered most for its unique
storytelling with all the moolah turning out to be an add-on.
On the other hand Policegiri didn't really have much going for it. It
was expected
that the film would open on a 50% note
at the single screen theatres in mass
centres. That was not the case to be as
the film took an ordinary start. At
multiplexes, the film didn't really boast of many shows and was just
better than Enemmyand Shortcut Romeo (for which all prospects had been
killed in advance
itself due to poor release). In comparison
though, Policegiri was still much better
spread out due to its single screens
reach. However with the weekend
collections around 8 crores, there is not much going for the film.
One does feel though that if Sanjay Dutt
was around, his presence would have not
just ensured some good promotion but
also release, hence resulting in a better
opening at the least. As things stand
today though, its opening is less than even Zila Ghaziabad which had a
10 crore weekend.
From Salman & Akshay, Prabhudheva Moves On To ‘Well Groomed’ Girish Kumar
Prabhudheva has delivered two major
biggies in the form of Wanted and Rowdy Rathore. In both the films he
worked with superstars like Salman Khan and
Akshay Kumar respectively. Results were
there to be seen as in the action packed
affairs, while the actors delivered their
best, the director too shone. Now one
looks forward to the filmmaker rising up to the challenge and
delivering a success
with newcomer Girish Kumar in Ramaiya Vastavaiya.
"It wasn't as difficult for Prabhudheva as
it sounds because even before stepping
in for his first rehearsals, Girish had gone
through a grooming drill," informs a
family friend, "He wanted to be an actor
since he was a kid and with dad Kumar Taurani, there was a pact that was
formed that once he grew up, there
would be a good launch pad waiting for
it."
However at Girish's end, he had to make
sure that there was no wrong foot being
set and with an acclaimed and successful
director at the helm of affairs, he had to
make sure that he delivered from Day
One.
"The grooming too place over a period of
time which required Girish to
learn Kathak as well as attend acting
classes in order to build his foundation
right. He also went to the USA for a
couple of months in order to hone his skills further in a workshop. On his
return, there were private tutors
assigned so that he perfected his art
further. In addition, Prabhudheva himself
asked him to watch videos of various
dance numbers that required intricate steps and get them all right before
hitting the sets," the friend continues.
The result was a much confident Girish
who was raring to go once the shooting
schedule of Ramaiya Vastavaiya began.
"Yes, there was a good learning journey
involved but it was all worth it. I would
still say that I have just begun and I am
learning on the job," says Girish, "Of
course my grooming helped because once
you have some sort of basic knowledge then at least you know what has to
worked upon when on the real field.
Prabhu Sir made sure that I played on the
front foot. We are all quite anxious to
see how audience react to the film now."
We would know once the film, with
Shruti Haasan in the lead, releases all
over on 19th July.

D-Day Gets A U/A Certificate
The Indian Censor Board has issued
Nikhil Advani's D-Daya U/A certificate after suggesting minor cuts. The decision
was passed following a meeting with the
Censor Board and the Revision
Committee.
Slated for a July 19th release D-Day is a
espionage thriller about four R&AW
officials – Wali Khan (Irrfan Khan), Rudra
Pratap Singh (Arjun Rampal), Zoya
Rehman (Huma Qureshi) and Aslam
(Akash Dahiya) who are sent to Pakistan by the Indian Government to capture
India's Most Wanted Terrorist (Rishi
Kapoor).
Director Nikhil Advani is very pleased
with the Censor Board's decision. "The
Censor Board suggested minor cuts that
do not disturb the sanctity of the film.
The cuts primarily tone down certain
violent portions of the film keeping in mind younger audiences. That was
something that the Censor Board was
particularly keen on and given that we
specifically want to take this movie to
the younger generation we were more
than happy to accommodate the cuts. Overall, I'm very happy with the Censor
Board's decision," says Advani.
Produced by DAR Motion Pictures and
Emmay Entertainment, and co-produced
by Essel Vision Productions, D-Day
features Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan, Arjun
Rampal, Huma Qureshi, Shruti Haasan,
Akash Dahiya, Nassar, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Sree Swara, amongst others.

Shraddha Kapoor do an item song in Karan Johr's 'Ungli'
It is flattering for newbies to work with
Karan Johar, and Shraddha Kapoor has
upped her rank by securing an item
number in Dharma Production's Ungli. After being roped in Punit
Malhotra's Gori Tere Pyaar Mein along with Kareena Kapoor and Imran
Khan, this is her
second stint with Dharma.
Shraddha shot to fame with one of the
biggest hits of this year Aashiqui 2 and is in news for being considered for the
sequel of Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin along
with roles in The Villain in her kitty.
Definitely one of the most promising
young faces in Bollywood, one can easily
predict that Shraddha has a long way to go in Bollywood.

The actor will be seen fighting with

It is said to be a lengthy action sequence
and the actor will also face other animals
in fight sequences.
"It will be an elaborate fight sequence,"

Akshay Kumar cast Shiv Pandit
Remember the movie Shaitan, and one of the actors in it, Shiv Pandit?
No, we neither. But Akshay Kumar does.
Apparently, Khiladi Kumar was so
impressed with Pandit's performance in
Shaitan that he called up the young actor
to audition for a role in Boss and cast him
in it opposite Aditi Rao Hydari. Boss, due an October release, is
being directed by
Anthony D'Souza, whose debut film Blue
was a multi-crore disaster. The film also
stars Mithun Chakraborty and Danny
Denzongpa.
Here we quote from the film's PR
machine: "A source close to the team
said, Akshay absolutely enjoyed seeing
Shiv's performance onscreen in Shaitan
and he thought that he would perfectly fit
the character in Boss. In fact, after the audition, Akshay met Shiv in
person and
told him about his performance and
offered him a three-film deal."
Since the quote is coming from the film's
promotional team, why do they quote 'a
source close to the team' and not, say,
Kumar himself, or D'Souza even?
Mystifying to say the least, but such are
the workings of Bollyland.
Anyhow, hearty congratulations to Pandit
on his three-film deal and let's hope that
he makes it big in Bollywood in years to
come. Apart from Shaitan, his only
release has been the Tamil film Leelai,
where he was impressive, but was overshadowed by the comedian
Santhanam.
Speaking of Santhanam, he is the only
bright spark in the decibel fest that is
Singam 2. Suriya roars, the soundtrack
blares and for Santhanam to make a
mark in what is purely a hero vehicle
takes some doing. Spare a thought for Vivek, the comedian whose throne
Santhanam usurped. He's also present
and accounted for in Singam 2, but
doesn't leave much of an impression. His
time in Tamil cinema seems done.
Wonder who Santhanam's replacement will eventually be, but as for now, there
doesn't seem to be a contender in sight.
Meanwhile, Santhanam is busy with the
Tamil remake of SS Rajamouli's Telugu
superhit Maryada Ramanna, which was
inspired from Buster Keaton's 1923 film
Our Hospitality and was remade in
Kannada as Maryade Ramanna, in Bengali as Faande Poriya Boga Kaande Re and in
Bollywood as Son of Sardaar. The Tamil
remake, being directed by Srinath is titled
Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham and will
have music by Anirudh Ravichander of
Kolaveri di fame.
While in Tamil Nadu, let's take a look at
the biggest stars there. There is no news
on the much delayed Kochadaiyaan,
starring a motion captured Rajinikanth
and Deepika Padukone. There's no news of even a trailer, which was supposed to
be released on the sidelines of the Cannes
film festival but did not materialise.
Hardcore Superstar fans are getting
worried.
And the proposed August 15 release date
for Vishwaroopam 2 is not confirmed yet. Kamal Haasan released a poster for it
at some minor Bollywood event that
happened in Macau over the weekend, so there is hope yet. Plus, there
is concrete
news about his film after that. It's going
to be an untitled venture produced by
Linguswamy's Thirupathy Brothers
production company and will be directed
by Ramesh Aravind. Kamal had acted in Aravind's Kannada remake of hit Tamil
film Sathi Leelavathi. The film will be a
comedy. There is however no news of
Kamal's much ballyhooed Hollywood
debut to be produced byLord of the Rings producer Barrie Osborne.

"I am not like Deepika Padukone": Alia Bhatt
The Student of the year- Alia Bhatt has without a doubt made it big in
the industry at such a young age and is already being compared to
actresses like Deepika Padukone. Alia has been working with Randeep
Hooda in Imtiaz Ali's film 'Highway' and with Arjun Kapoor in Abishek
Varman's '2 States' based on Chetan Bhagat's novel. In '2 States', she
plays a South Indian girl, probably why comparisons are being drawn
between her and Deepika who is donning a similar character in 'Chennai
Express'.
However, recently in an interview when Alia was asked to comment on
this, she said, "She is a modern day South Indian girl so her accent
is not that heavy. I am not like Deepika from 'Chennai Express'."
In terms of comparison as an actress also she believes she can't be
compared to someone like her and adds, "I don't think I can be
compared to her as she is much senior and a fantastic actress. So,
with these comparisons obviously I would be flattered, but I can't be
like her. That's just not possible!" Guess, the young gun has learnt
her lessons in being humble.

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone: Together once more!
Raj Kapoor-Nargis, Amitabh Bachchan-
Rekha, Govinda-Karisma Kapoor, Akshay
Kumar-Katrina Kaif, Shah Rukh Khan and
Kajol... Some screen jodis work magic
every time they come together. There
hasn't been a new jodi on the big screen.
Until Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The
chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and
Deepika Padukone in the film has clicked
big time, and has made it the biggest hit
of the year. Now everyone will want to
cast them together and cash in on their craze. And the first in the line of
filmmakers is Imtiaz Ali, who has signed
RK and Dips for his next love story.
There were speculations that Katrina and
Alia Bhatt were considered for this film
but post YJHD, it can now be revealed tha
Dips has been finalised for the part.
Says an industry source, "The success of
YJHD proves beyond all doubts that the
audiences are in love with this onscreen
pair. Ranbir was on-board for almost a
year. Though Imtiaz and Ranbir had
discussed various options for the lead actress, they were still debating on who
was the best choice. It was during the
shooting of YJHD, that Ranbir suggested
Deepika's name. Imtiaz, who worked
with her before in Love Aaj Kal, was ope
to the idea. Then came the blockbuster YJHD — which turned out to be the
clinching factor." Imtiaz is known to do
quirky love stories with a twist. And the
casting with this new hit pair makes the
project hotter.
