Star rating : 2.5/5 (Two And Half Star)
Music Director: Pritam
Somehow I always thought Milan Luthria
has a good ear for music, especially after
he roped in Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to
conjure up a delectable song in Kachche
Dhaage. But frankly with Once Upon In
Mumbaai's second edition I am slightly disappointed with both Pritam and
Luthria. Pritam's last hit album Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani still has its
tune fresh in my head and its songs are on the
loop on my playlist. However, with this
album there is meager chances of any of
the tracks to stay on your music shelf at
all.
Ye Tune Kya Kiya – Once Upon A Time
In Mumbaai Dobaara! Music Review
Sung by Javed Bashir, the song's beauty is
only in his wonderful voice. The lyrics are
too rash and hence the impact runs out.
The song's lyrical bit doesn't have any
rhyming in it, and the tempo is unusually
high. The melody and the pace could have been altered for the better!
Tayyab Ali – Once Upon A Time In
Mumbaai Dobaara! Music Review
The lyrics of this song are a standout and
perhaps that's what makes this
repackaged version of the Mohd. Rafi
classic sound good. Keeping comparisons
aside, this one is a fine hear. Javed
Bashir's voice is appealing as always and there is a nice touch of humor in his
eclectic singing. I am never is favor of
remaking old tracks since I perceive it as
lack of imagination and hence this track
is lag for me.
Tu Hi Khwaish Na – Once Upon A Time
In Mumbaai Dobaara! Music Review
Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, this song is
brilliant and stands out with its catchy
beats. It is vigorous and its rhythm is well
arranged musically. The retro cabaret
beats comes across well in Sunidhi's
sensuous voice.
Chaugliyan – Once Upon A Time In
Mumbaai Dobaara! Music Review
In the voices of Javed Ali and Saher Ali
Bagga, the song leaves absolutely zero
impact in its first hear. However, in its
soft and easy to hum ways the love ballad
is mostly flat. The instruments'
arrangement in the song doesn't fascinate and loses appeal too soon!
The Last Word – Once Upon A Time In
Mumbaai Dobaara! Music Review
Overall the OUATIMD album is just about alright. With such few songs to gauge
from it is an average album with only Tu Hi Khawish standing out in
terms of lingering music. I am going with 2.5/5
for this album. Pritam and his singers can
do much better than this. I was expecting
the original OUATIM delight but in comparison this one turned out to be
drab!
