Sonakshi Sinha is getting great reviews
for her sterling performance as Pakhi in
Vikramaditya Motwane's "Lootera"!
Everyone is talking about how she cruises
her character curve in the film from a
chirpy, mildly-manipulative, madly-in-
love girl to a devastated woman counting
her last breaths, with restrained charm
and breathtaking conviction.
Warned against doing period film
But there were many who had dissuaded
her from trying her hand at a period film
so early in her career.
Given the accolades she has received for
Lootera, the lady who made her debut in
Salman Khan starrer Dabangg, and went on to act in masala movies "Rowdy
Rathore", "Dabangg 2" and "Son Of
Sardaar" has proved to all that she is a
fantastic talent and an actress to reckon
with.
Junior Shotgun stated, "After 'Dabangg'
people saw me in a particular kind of
cinema. I heard comments like 'This is
too early in your career', 'You may not be
able to pull it off', 'You need to be
mature for something like this'.
"I was irritated and decided to prove
everyone wrong. I tried doing something
experimental and I am happy that I was
able to carry it off."
Most challenging role
The volatile love story set in the Bengal of
1953 marked with deceit, betrayal,
honour and passion was a clear challenge
for the actress. She plays is a sweet,
mischievous, pampered but devoted
daughter of a zamindar who falls for a visiting archeologist with a questionable
past..The 24-year-old credits Motwane for
honing her skills as an actor bringing out
the best in her. According to her, without
his guidance it would have been
impossible to essay the character of
Pakhi. The lady stated, "It is my most
challenging role till date. Because it is set
in the 1950s, an era I know nothing
about. I have just gone by pure instinct
and Vikram's direction. He is a
tremendous director, I could not have done it without him. I am so glad that
the first opportunity where I got to
showcase my range as an actor was with
Vikram."
B-town's fitness freaks have come down
heavily on Sonakshi for her profound
roundedness time and again. People take
pot shots at her voluptuous figure
labeling her too-mature-looking for her
age. Buzz has it that the young crop of heartthrobs is reluctant to be paired up
with Sona because of her generous
figure. Meanwhile, Sonakshi attitude towards
her detractors is a cool one. She is
indifferent to something as superficial as
body weight. The young actress is
currently in a good place with high-
profile projects in her kitty. After "Lootera", she has three more releases
lined up - "Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai
Dobara", "Bullet Raja" and "Rambo
Rajkumar". She stated, "It is a non-issue to me. I am
very happy doing work and lot of work...
Probably more than the skinny-minnies. I
am going to take a stand in my life by not
talking about it, stop answering
questions so that people stop writing about it."
