2013 Mid-year report card: Bollywood's 10 best films so far

With six months gone by, some films got
a thumbs-up from the fans while others
did not either fare well at the box office.
So, we take a look at Bollywood's 10 best
films that were able to strike a chord
with the audiences.

1) AASHIQUI2:-
There were speculations about 'Aashiqui
2', since 'Aashiqui' was a blockbuster
back in 1990s. But, newcomers Aditya
Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor struck
the right chord with the audiences. The
film not just turned out to be a big grosser at the box office but the songs
and the story also worked wonders.

2) YEH JAWANI HAI DEEWANI:-
Keeping their past at bay, Ranbir Kapoor
and Deepika Padukone decided to come
together for 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'
and that's what the fans were waiting
for. A story about friendship and love got
much applause from the audiences and the crackling chemistry between the
two became the talk of the town.


3) KAI PO CHE:-
Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel,
Abhishek Kapoor's 'Kai Po Che' became
one of the biggest hits of 2013. A story
about three friends living in Gujarat, the
film touched upon their friendship and
the Godhara riots. The treatment of the film made it quite a hit with the
audiences.

4) MERE DAD KI MARUTI:-
Small budget film 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti'
turned out to be a surprise hit. With a
promising and rib-tickling storyline, the
story revolves a son who loses a car that
is a gift for his sister's wedding. With
some good performances from Saqib Saleem and Ram Kapoor, the film makes
it to our list of best films.

5) RAANJHANA:-
When relationships don't survive beyond
a week or a month, Aanand L Rai brings
the story of a lover who is almost a
devotee to the girl who he fell for as a
child. 'Raanjhanaa' tells the story of a
Hindu boy who falls for a Muslim girl and can go to any lengths to win her over.

6) SPECIAL 26:-
Heist films is not a new concept in
Bollywood but Neeraj Pandey's 'Special
26' was a class apart. it revolves around
the story of four men and how they carry
out a robbery at a jewellery shop. With
good performances from Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher, 'Special 26' makes it
to the list of good films.

7) FUKREY:-
'Fukrey' proved that a good story, no
stars and superb performances from
newcomers can guarantee success both
at the box office as well as in the hearts
of the viewers. Mrighdeep Singh Lamba's
film revolves around four jobless people who dream to achieve big.

8) BOMBAY TALKIES:-
'Bombay Talkies' is a unique film not just
in terms of concept but also in terms of
script. Four directors came together to
celebrate 100 years of cinema by telling
four different stories that speak of love,
and aspiration.

9) GO GOA GONE:-
Zombie films is a new concept in
Bollywood and directors Raj Nidimoru
and Krishna D.K give this genre a funny
turn. Touted as India's first zom-com, 'Go
Goa Gone' makes to the list for its funny
one-liners and a new concept.

10) JOLLY LLB:-
Taking a cue from the infamous 1999 hit
and run case, Subhash Kapoor's 'Jolly LLB'
is a satire on the society and the
judiciary. With a strong script and good
performances, 'Jolly LLB' makes for an
interesting watch.
