Veteran filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi
would have managed a casting coup
of sorts when he got two of the
biggest superstars Aamir Khan and
Shahrukh Khan together to hear the
script of his movie 'Rashque' (Urdu word meaning 'Jealousy'). Both the
Khans loved the script about musician
friends and were keen to work with
the director. For three nights Santoshi
even managed to get Bollywood's
two most charismatic stars together for a joint narration. But for months
after that, Raj Santoshi chased both
actors independently and neither of
them reverted. Finally Rajkumar Santoshi shelved the idea of this
ambitious project.The master director
is known for his famous movies like
'Damini', 'Ghayal', 'Ghatak', Andaz
Apna Apna', 'Khakee' and 'The Legend
Of Bhagat Singh'.
The rights of the script were later
acquired by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and
hence 'London Dreams' was made.
Salman Khan did the role meant for
Aamir Khan while Ajay Devgn
portrayed the character originally written for Shahrukh Khan. The movie
did not fare well at the box office but
the performances of lead actors got
appreciated. Rajkumar Santoshi had
earlier managed to bring together
Aamir Khan and Salman Khan for the first and probably last time in his cult
comedy 'Andaz Apna Apna'.
