Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag on the Flying
Sikh, Milkha Singh shoots off to fair start at
the box office on its opening day. The
film opened to an average occupancy of 40%-45% in the urban centers
and multiplexes.
Usually the premise is something that
lacks mass appeal, but the film with
great reviews from critics and good box
office boost at the on start is expected to
fare well. The film's stronghold circuit is
North India where it showed a promising beginning, especially in East
Punjab.
Made on a lavish budget, the film's box
office numbers have to be stellar to
recover its investment. The initial push
in terms of figures is fantastic, but
targeted mainly at the multiplex
audiences, the film has to increase the pace of its earning to level the money
input in it.
